Job Stories From Dutchess County, NY
Basement in Holmes, NY

This family lived in the home for 12 years and only went downstairs to the garage and to do laundry. When we were called to finish the basement we went over all the things the family wanted. Dry, Warm and Functional. For us that is right up our alley and what we do. We started with a whole house waterproofing system to keep the whole basement dry, once that was done we started by gutting some areas that were finished wrong. We then laid out a new work area with a cubby to hold the tool box. we then made a foyer area where the family can take off their coats and boots and drop the book bags coming in from the garage. We finished the previously unfinished pantry area and set up so the freezer can go in there. Then came the big room with the wood stove. We completed this room and made all the rooms ready for paint. We installed the new MillCreek flooring and with the trim we used the EverLast paintable walls, it looks awesome! We used the EverLast insulated paintable wall panels for the exterior and it was probably the warmest the basement had been since the house was built. On the interior walls, we installed the EverLast paintable wall panels. The homeowner chose the paintable panels because they wanted to have different colors in each room and he used to paint homes while in school and loved painting. The basement was now the new focal point of the home.

Basement Waterproofing & Finishing in Dover Plains, New York

We at the Basement Transformers of New York recently completed a basement waterproofing and finishing project for a homeowner in Dover Plains, New York. The homeowner was facing issues with water seepage, high humidity, and an unfinished basement, and was looking to solve and transform their damp, underutilized space into a dry, beautiful, usable space. To address the water issues, we installed our TripleSafe sump pump system with a battery backup system, to ensure this basement remains dry, even during a power outage. We also installed, our WaterGuard system around the perimeter of the basement to protect the basement and to direct water to the sump pump system. Before starting the basement finishing process, we installed our SaniDry dehumidifier system to remove moisture, mold and small mildew particles from the air, ensuring a comfortable, dry, healthy environment. Once the waterproofing system was in place, we shifted our focus to finishing the basement. We use our EverLast wall system which are durable moisture and mold resistant walls, making them ideal for basements. For the floors we installed our EliteFlooring system, a waterproof option that offers both durability and aesthetic appeal, and the electrical system was updated with beautiful ambient lighting. The final touch was adding trim to create a beautiful, finished look. The transformation was a complete success, and the homeowner was left with a basement that's now dry, comfortable and an attractive space that the entire family can use year-round, without the concerns about water damage or humidity.

Sagging Floor Repair in Hopewell Junction, New York

A homeowner in Hopewell Junction, New York, reached out to us with concerns about their crawlspace, particularly the sagging floors above it, which were causing noticeable dips and uneven surfaces throughout their home. The homeowner called us and discussed their concerns with our appointment center, who then scheduled an inspection with one of our highly trained specialists. On the day of the inspection, our specialist arrived, met with the homeowner, and performed a thorough inspection of the crawlspace. The inspection revealed that the floor joists were weakened and not properly supported, leading to the sagging floors. After understanding the issues our specialist designed a comprehensive solution to address the crawlspace support problems. The proposed solution involved installing our SmartJack support system. The SmartJacks system is designed to stabilize and lift the floor joists, providing the necessary support to eliminate the sagging. The installation process began with excavating small holes at strategic locations in the crawlspace, where the smart jacks would be placed. We then filled these holes to create a solid base for each SmartJack. Once the bases were prepared, we installed the adjustable SmartJacks and carefully lifted the floor joists to the desired level, ensuring stability and evenness throughout the home. After reviewing the proposed solution with the homeowner, they gave us the green light to proceed with the installation. On the day of the installation, our production team, led by a highly trained Foreman, installed the proposed plan. The end result was a crawlspace with stable, properly supported floors above. The homeowner no longer had concerns about sagging floors and was thrilled with the results, enjoying a level and stable home once again.

Weakening Floors in Redhook, New York

A homeowner in Redhook, New York had been struggling with their crawlspace for quite some time. They were dealing with persistent, dampness, mold growth, and floors that had begun to sag. Realizing they needed professional help, they contacted us for a free inspection. Our appointment center quickly set up an inspection with one of our highly trained specialists. On the schedule day, our specialist arrived at the homeowners property, ready to assess the situation. After meeting with the homeowner, the specialist conducted a thorough inspection of the crawlspace. The inspection revealed significant moisture issues, insufficient insulation, and weakened support beams that were causing the floors to sag. Understanding the urgency, our specialist proposed a detailed plan, which included insulating the crawlspace, encapsulating it with a vapor barrier, and installing SmartJacks to stabilize the floors. We began by clearing out the debris and prepping the area for the installation. The first task was to install our SilverGlo insulation along the walls of the crawl space to enhance the energy efficiency of the home and create a thermal barrier. This was followed by the encapsulation process using our CleanSpace vapor barrier system. This system covers the floor and walls, effectively sealing out moisture and creating a clean, dry, and usable space. Next, we tackled the structural issues by installing our SmartJack support system. Adjustable steel piers were placed under the crawl space beams to lift and stabilize the sagging floors. This provided a permanent solution to the structural problems, ensuring that the floors remained level and secure. Once the homeowner reviewed and approve the plan, we schedule the installation. On the day of the installation, our production team, led by an experienced Foreman, installed the plan our specialist created. After the installed the homeowner was left with a clean, dry, usable and stable crawl space for many years to come.

Ruined Finished Basement in Redhook, New York

A homeowner in Redhook New York, had a finished basement that developed a leak during a rain storm, ruining their beautifully finished basement. The homeowner had someone come in to clean their basement up, but they were now left with an almost completely unfinished basement that they wanted to finish again, but we're worried that their basement might flood and ruin their newly finished basement again. Before redoing their basement, they reached out to us to see how we could prevent their basement from flooding again, so we sent one of our specialists out to inspect their leaky basement. After our specialist, inspected their leaky basement, they recommended they have their basement waterproofed using our basement waterproofing system, which consists of our WaterGuard, TripleSafe sump pump, and our SaniDry dehumidification system. Our WaterGuard system works by our crew coming in and installing the WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement, so that if any water tries to enter the basement, it will get captured by our water guard system, which will then direct the water to our some pump system. As water enters our sump pump system, it will get discharged out of the home by one of the three pumps located inside the sump pump. The first pump is our primary pump, which will handle most of the heavy lifting. The second pump is our secondary pump, in case the primary becomes overwhelmed with water, or in the event it fails. The third pump in our system is our battery back up pump, which will kick on and discharge water in the event the home lost power during a rain storm. To ensure this basement remains completely dry and usable, we installed our SaniDry dehumidifier system that will remove any moisture, mold, or mildew particles from the air, helping to create a dry and healthy environment. Now this homeowner has a basement that's completely dry and usable for many years to come.
